In traditional Chinese painting, Azalea is one of the ten most well known flowers artists like to paint. Azalea is often associated with rejuvenation and prosperity in Chinese culture since Azalea blossoms in Spring and when it blooms, its flowers grow in clusters and cover the entire bushes.
When one sees blossoming white Azalea and a bee hastily flying toward the flowers, one gets the signal that Spring is here. In an ancient poem by a Chinese poet named Su Chen-Rang, Initial Encounter with Azalea, he wrote: “ To let East wind lead its flowers in full bloom, Azalea broadcasts the arrival of Spring.” For thousands of years, Azalea has helped to announce the advent of the renewal season. It has become an indispensable part of the life cycle.
